About Me

Why did I start Sew Way of K?

Being a mum I got hit in the face with how quickly my little ones grow out of their clothes! And I could feel the guilt weighing on with the amount of clothes I had to buy, and the short amount of time they could be worn. Over the years I've tried to practice sustainability - buying second hand, donating used clothes to charities or placing them in bins to be recycled or re-used.

And then I discovered sewing! I love sewing - the chance to create new things from beautiful fabrics I choose. And I have an increased appreciation of the amount of time, effort and love that goes into creating new clothes. Sewing also gives me control to ensure that I minimise fabric waste as much as possible, and can sew clothes that can be adjusted to grow with my kids.

So combining the idea of slow fashion, sustainability and my love for sewing - I decided to leave my day job and take a chance!

Who is K?

A mum of 2 young kids, originally from Hong Kong and living in Singapore. I took the chance to change my life and quit my legal career - a scary step after 16 years as a lawyer. But I felt if I didn't do it now, I'd never do it. And I knew I'd regret it more if I didn't try, then if I tried and failed. Besides sewing and spending time with my family and friends, I love travelling, reading urban fantasy, scuba diving, gobbling food, riding roller coasters and trying new activities that get my heart pumping with the thrill of excitement!
